Kauai

Kauai is a wonderfully restful and restorative island with its own unique healing properties, “Momma Kauai”. She’s a giant floating crystal. The oldest island in the Hawaiian chain. The resonance of the island is felt immediately. The ionic water weighted sultry floral scented fresh air gently caresses your skin. The sounds, waves along the seashore, soft cooing of birdsong in the morning and Shamas songs at dusk with the crows of the roosters too, of course, are in the background of your day. The sights of the ocean and sky and lush verdant tropical land, waterfalls and rainbows…the combination is quite deep and fills one with a sense of awe. The crystal bowls have a similar effect. Treat yourself to a facial and a tune up. The combination is restorative.

Her exploration of Makeup & Hair in addition to the salon and spa setting, lead her in support of Film & Commercial production. She is a member in good standing with IATSE Local 665 transferring from 484 when she moved to Hawaii from Austin, TX in 2009. Her over 25 year career in film production has earned her work on over 35 films and countless commercials. The move to Hawaii shifted when work was fading in the market where she lived (better tax incentives in neighboring states) and she found herself with options to move with the work (One of her mentors, Ron Berkley, said "that’s why it’s called the movies, not because its moving picture images, but because we packed up like gypsys and the carnival fair. If you worked in the carnival you were called a carny and when you worked in film production you also moved a lot due to the many locations, movies” Ron would know. He worked back in the day when the production team was signed on with the Studio and the whole entourage traveled together. He was a Master Artist and took care of high profile artists such as Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Harris). She came to the North Shore of Kauai and the island accepted her. She does hair and makeup on location for film & commercials, also weddings & provides facial services in a luxury spa (formerly at Barton Creek Resort & Spa in Austin,Texas and St. Regis Princeville, Hawaii).

She loves art and music. She represents about 45 local artists on Kauai and a few in Texas and a couple in Tahiti. She managed a gallery in Austin for many years (there is down time between films & weekends at the spa) & did the same upon moving to Kauai. The gallery closed its doors in 2016 and that’s when she opened a virtual window, HanaleiArtGallery.com and to gain visibility, she stages homes and vacation rentals on Kauai. Her aesthetic sensibility translates easily into creating beautiful spaces. Your home is a reflection of yourself and should be a place to nurture and recharge. Having beautiful art around you lifts your spirit and makes you feel good. Sunrises and sunsets are spectacular. God creates them twice a day, every day. These events are the inspiration for Terri’s paintings. She paints horizons, yet each is unique. Colors are seen as vibrations of visible lightwaves.

Terri’s wildest dream is to bring music to the islands. She moved here for The Live Music Capital of the World and her grandfather was the founder of the Country Music Awards. She thought it would be a no brainer to bring musicians quarterly to Kauai from Austin and create a "sister city” where Hawaii’s musicians could also play and get broader exposure. Alas, it’s proven to be a bit more difficult, but she has great hopes regardless. Many of the musicians she hopes to bring are touring and grammy award winning. In the words of Judy Tanuta, “It could happen!” Terri made a cd in 2007, released at Christmastime of the year and got a bit of exposure in 2008. People liked it and she got a few calls regarding some gigs and touring at which time she had moved to Hawaii and didn’t do that, but you can hear her album of covers titled, Waiting for This Moment, via YouTube.
